More about the ingredients:
Vitamin D: The plant-based form of vitamin D, Ergocalciferal, is naturally occurring and is essential for bone development and growth in children. For adults, vitamin D helps maintain bone health and can prevent the onset of osteoporosis as well as bone fractures as one gets older. Vitamin D aids in the absorption of both calcium and phosphorus. Maintaining a sufficient amount of vitamin D has been linked to a decrease in risk of a number of degenerative diseases such as diabetes, osteoporosis as well as multiple sclerosis (MS) to name a few. CalciAIM supplies your body with 283 International Units (IU)/ 7mcg of vitamin D with every scoop.
Magnesium: This mineral is essential for the hundreds of biochemical reactions that take place in the body. Not only is it involved in calcium uptake, but it is also involved with the metabolising of carbohydrates, muscle contractions, nerve transmissions along with bone mineralisation. Magnesium also plays a vital role as a catalyst for enzyme activity, more specifically for those enzymes facilitating the production of energy.
Zinc: A low intake of zinc can have adverse health effects as it is essential for calcium absorption. If one has a low intake of zinc, studies have found that it can lead to a higher risk of osteoporosis in both men and women. Furthermore, it also plays a role in supporting the immune system.
Copper: This is an important micronutrient which plays an essential role in the formation of bones.
Vitamin C: A powerful antioxidant which can help improve immune, gum and dental health. When it is paired with L-lysine HCL, vitamin C can aid in the improvement of development and maintenance of cartilage.
L-lysine HCL: An amino acid that must come from ones diet or supplementation. L-lysine can increase the absorption of calcium into the bloodstream as well as decrease its excretion by the urinary system.
Did you know?
The adult human body is comprised of 206 bones which, along with cartilage, makes up the entire skeletal system. As a result, their strength is very important for good health. Calcium is the most abundant mineral in the human body and 99 percent of it is stored in bones and teeth. Calcium deficiency is not a health concern that is limited to only those over 60, but is in fact a concern for all ages. Osteoporosis can affect those as young as twelve years old. Not only does calcium play a vital role in bone health, it is also responsible for muscle contractions, the function of the central nervous system, and hormone secretion. Research has also shown that a diet rich in calcium can lower and maintain blood pressure.
