What Is Biotin?

Biotin, also known as vitamin B7, is a water-soluble vitamin. It helps enzymes carry out important steps in the metabolism of fats, carbohydrates and amino acids. Therefore, its role extends beyond hair and skin to the way the body uses nutrients.

Biotin also contributes to the maintenance of normal hair and skin. Earthier Organic Biotin provides this vitamin from organic basil extract, alongside silica from two complementary plant sources.

Why Combine Biotin with Silica?

Biotin is a vitamin, whereas silica is a silicon-containing compound that occurs naturally in plants. Earthier combines organic bamboo exudate extract with organic horsetail powder to provide the formula’s silica content.

Silica provides silicon, which researchers have investigated for its potential role in collagen formation and the structure of bones and connective tissues. Collagen helps give skin, tendons and ligaments their strength and resilience, making silicon an interesting complement to biotin’s role in maintaining normal hair and skin.

Earthier’s Whole-Food Approach

Earthier Organic Biotin uses organic botanical ingredients in a vegan hypromellose capsule. The ingredient list identifies each plant source and clearly notes that the capsule shell is non-organic.

In addition, the formulation contains no added preservatives and avoids magnesium stearate and silicon dioxide as manufacturing additives.
