Purple Potatoes are type of potatoes originating from the South American Andes mountain areas. They are higher in carbohydrate than common white/yellow potatoes, but their Glycaemic Index (GI) is lower due to the higher fibre content. These interesting tuber veggies are slightly denser and needs a bit longer cooking time. Purple potatoes contain various trace minerals, vitamin C, vitamin B6 and antioxidants.
The Heirloom Foods Purple Potatoes are grown from heirloom seeds with biodynamic farming principles and are free of synthetic pesticides, herbicides and GMOs.
