Star Anise is a star-shaped spice which has a long history of being an ingredient in curry mixtures and various Asian cuisine recipes. This fragrant spice is the actual dried fruit of the Illicium verum tree. The whole fruit, including the husk and seeds, are used for flavouring savoury and sweet foods.
Star Anise has also been utilised in traditional Chinese Medicine recipes due to its antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial properties.
