The Bird’s Eye Chilli is a type of chilli pepper also known as Thai chilli and originating from areas of Thailand, The Philippines, Cambodia . They are very small with round shape, have heat levels of 50,000 to 100,000 SHU (Scoville Heat Units) and are popular ingredient in Asian cuisine. Their name is derived from the fact that birds are not affected by the heat and can spread the seeds.
Traditionally the hot pepper has been used as a natural remedy for arthritis, rheumatism, cold and flu, flatulence and toothache, and they may also be used as an pest repellents for plants when mixed with water.
